Is Arome Bakery the best bakery in London? A quick glimpse at my page will tell you I’m no bakery expert. But one thing I know is London is stacked and full of amazing bakeries. And if you ask 10 Londoners what their favourite bakery is, you’ll probably get 12 different answers. And they’ll all probably be right!? I mean with the amount of quality bakeries in the capital is there any need to travel to France anymore!? In this post we’ll explore one of the most popular bakeries of late: Arome Bakery.
Arome Bakery
Whatever your favourite is, Arome Bakery (instagram) is going to be high on a lot of people’s lists. It’s evidently a high quality bakery with top tier offerings. Very busy (don’t expect a seat indoors on weekends and be prepared to queue), very aesthetic and very creative. And I love how that creativity and innovation includes a blend of French and Asian baking. Well specifically French baking with Asian ingredients. Genius combination. The result is some very very innovative baked goods.
They’ve got multiple creative and delicious looking offerings, but they’re especially known for their prized possession, which is the honey butter toast. It’s always sold out due to its popularity and it is the thing that almost everyone is getting and it is what has elevated their viral status online. They also have monthly and seasonal specials, which are always worth exploring. Loyal fans will always shout about their quality as well as their consistency and to be honest just one look at the bakery, the display and the efficient service I can tell it is a bakery that is moving like clockwork. Almost methodical, but don’t get me wrong, nothing boring or mundane about them whatsoever.

Our experience (including the honey butter toast!)
What did we try? We got the famous honey butter toast (of course). To be fair when we went it was sold out, but thankfully a new batch was coming out in about 15 minutes. So, not only did we get one, but we got a fresh one! How was it? It was really good. The bread used is Japanese shokupan, which is a thick, soft and fluffy bread. It is coated in crunchy honey exterior. The result is a handsome shiny looking brick. Sturdy and firm enough to probably do damage to someone, but the soft interior makes for pleasant bites. So, quite different to your usual French toast in that regard. It’s got that caramely French toast taste though and a sticky texture, but not too sticky. Enough to need a tissue afterwards though. Despite how good it was I do think it was a scoop of ice cream or dollop of cream away from being an elite dessert.
We also got their seasonal special: asparagus miso truffle slice. This was a very unique sweet and savoury croissant. I’ve never had anything like it! Not quite sure yet if I like it though. My wife liked it more than me. They’ve got such amazing and wonderful looking offerings and that just gives me an excuse to return and try some of their other baked goodies. I mean even their croissants looked AMAZING!
They’ve currently got a couple of branches in London with prime locations like in the heart of Covent Garden.
