Korean Milk Doughnuts at Greedy Cow Bakes London

Korean milk doughnuts from Greedy Cow Bakes is the current hype and trend amongst London foodies. The amount of Instagram reels, TikToks and people queuing outside the bakery is a testament to its popularity, but what about the quality? We’ll discuss that below along with a little about Korean milk doughnuts themselves, the baker behind the bakery and the bakery.

Korean Milk Doughnuts

If you’ve come across the Italian Maritozzi, the cream filled buns, then well this is basically that. Korean milk doughnuts are doughnuts that have been cut in half and filled Generously (with a capital g) with cream. They come plain or filled with other goodies such as fruits or chocolate. They look stunning, they are a messy eat and if you’re big cream lover like me, you’re in for an absolute treat. You just may need to eat it in private or lose some dignity for a few minutes.

The baker and the bakery

Nazia Yasmin is the genius behind the bakery, Greedy Cow Bakes. She started out baking and selling her bakes from her kitchen during the Covid lockdown and it is testament to what she does that she now requires a shop, which has mad queues every day. Being a Muslim and Bengali, it can be an inspiration for many of our readers here. Greedy Cow Bakes in the heart of Hackney is perfectly located for foodies of East London to visit and try out the goodies. Unfortunately, for us currently, as this is written, they only open for 3 days of the week (Friday – Sunday) and you have to go early, I mean it. Within minutes the queue will reach down the road and 30 minutes to an hour wait is normal (we waited about 40 minutes). We even saw the neighbours showing some displeasure towards the crowds outside their shops (the queue was that long) and loads of people passing by on foot and on the road paused, looked, asked and even took pictures of the queues. Oh and don’t bank on getting there later on in the day because they usually sell out well before close of play. Yeah, the craze is mad. But, the big question is…

Is it worth the hype?

100%. We can end it there to be honest. We got a box of 4 Korean milk doughnuts. 2 strawberry and 2 mango. They had cookies and cream flavoured ones too. They also do a lot more such as some wonderful looking and sounding doughnuts. But we opted for the stars of the show here, the reason they’ve currently become a viral sensation. And boy we were not let down. The amount of cream was splendid, messy – extremely messy, but when it tastes this good, who cares? Would we recommend? Without a doubt!
