Don Tacos is Britain’s first ever Birria Tacos. They started serving the people of Manchester this viral Mexican dish in 2020 and now due to their popularity, they are looking to expand and offer the people of Bolton and Birmingham too! Birria tacos is a dish that has come from Mexico, but has taken the UK and social media by an absolute storm. Everyone is looking for authentic spots to try this delicious Mexican dish. Thankfully, for halalxplorers there are numerous options up and down the country. We’ve visited 3 spots in London alone!
How is Don Tacos compared to the ones in London?
We’ve heard mixed reviews about this place and I’m actually not sure why. The Birria Tacos were actually delicious, but we’ll come to that shortly. Firstly, the setting of the small restaurant is beautiful and authentic feeling (even if a bit gimmicky to be honest, but that kind of works for this here). Located in the middle of the infamous curry mile of Manchester (wilmslow road), it’s the perfectly located to attract people to the eatery. The service was okay, nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about neither. Now the food, unfortunately, we picked this up while we were strolling the street and took it home to have it later on. So, one would think it wouldn’t taste as good especially when the crunch of the tacos is crucial. However, it tasted as if it were fresh (of course we had to heat it up a bit). And it tasted delicious. Maybe not as good as our favourite one on Edgware Road (click here), but still oh so good. It was way better than the Camden Market one (click here). The texture of the tacos with the saucy and well spiced meat and consommé… oh my! Words cannot describe it.
