Miami Crispy: the best spicy chicken burger in Manchester

For those of you not aware, Manchester is known for its spicy chicken burgers. You cannot be a chicken burger fan until you’ve sampled Manchester’s finest. Halal foodies up and down the country flock to the city to try out their famous offerings. Locals all have their own favourite joint and this is often a heated discussion amongst them as to which one comes in at pole position. However, the spot that seems to be the standard, the benchmark, the one others are compared to is Miami Crispy! Whether it is people’s number one or not I often see it being compared to – all I hear is “it’s better than Miami” or “it isn’t as good as Miami”, this tells me I have to start here on the Manchester spicy chicken burger journey. Read on to see what we thought of this takeaway with a cult following.

Check out their website here.

The shop and the service

Prior to visiting we had read about the notorious queues – we were legitly ready to wait a couple of hours. As we drove past we saw the vibrant and what is now iconic, bright orange shop front. And thankfully, it actually didn’t seem too busy especially for a late Saturday afternoon. I mean it was busy, very busy for such a takeaway, but not the two hour long wait busy, thankfully. Most of the crowd outside the shop had already ordered and were waiting for their order. The queue to order itself was inside the shop and there was only one person ahead of us. We knew what we wanted so our order was done in no time. We then got our order in an impressive time of 20 minutes! Considering how busy it was, this was good.

The service from the bossman was as expected – gets the job done. Again, considering how busy it was, they were good. Inside the shop is clean and there isn’t too much space to be waiting inside and that’s why most wait outside. This might be a problem if the weather wasn’t good. Also, there isn’t any room to eat in, so this is takeaway only. This makes the long queue of people even more impressive. People from all walks of life were waiting – white, black, Asian, young and old. Another reason the queues were impressive was because there are actually numerous burger spots nearby – they were actually quiet, some had one customer and some had none.

The food

The food was hot and fresh and nothing that we got tasted reheated or old. And considering the price (see below), this was very impressive. I’m using this adjective quite a bit here. Let’s start with the burger. We got the spicy chicken burger and boy we were not disappointed. It was a monstrous burger, both in terms of size and taste! After one bite, and this is no exaggeration, we were convinced by the Manchester chicken burger hype and specifically the Miami hype. The fried chicken was juicy, crispy and actually spicy too. All the elements needed for a top notch chicken burger. Nothing fancy, nothing expensive feeling, just a good “bad” fried chicken burger – you know? Something most of us crave every now and then – this is THAT! As soon as that first bite took place, I gave my wife *that* look, you know the “this is goooooood” look. My eyes lit up, I had a big smile on my face and I genuinely became happy – the power of good food! My wife then took a bite, and she gave me the look of confirmation. We knew straightaway, this is going to be hard to beat.

The chips were lightly sprinkled with some spice – it added a nice flavour to the chips and elevated it to the next level. It was the perfect accompaniment to the already delicious burger. Another thing which I think is noteworthy even though very small is the sauce tub. I like how they give a tub where the chilli sauce and mayo is mixed in one. A nice touch and something different, I hadn’t seen this before.

The price

Our meal, which was the spicy chicken burger (massive in size might I add), chips (small portion compared to London takeaways) and a drink, cost us a mere £4.70. I mean c’mon! We are in the middle of 2022, a time where everything is literally costing an arm and a leg. Petrol is £2 a litre, utility bills have more than doubled, every single essential item and beyond has increased in price significantly. £4.70 for such a meal is an absolute steal! Some London takeaways are charging this amount for a portion of chips these days!

Overall, this is a must visit place. Whether you are a Manchester local or from a neighbouring city or even if you’re not. Miami Crispy in Manchester is a must visit for all burger lovers. Our Manchester spicy chicken burger continues, but for now, this sits quite easily in pole position.
