Mr. Burak is a Turkish chef turned internet sensation. Literally, famous for looking at the camera while cutting (please people do correct me if I’m wrong). And yes, this is what it takes to be famous it seems in 2020 and beyond. Much like Nusr-et, he has taken social media by storm and now you’ll see celebrities dining at their restaurants.
Chasing clout?
I am all about trying authentic food, local restaurants, home grown eateries, unique dining experiences, but I am still someone trying to grow on the social media scene. So, naturally where there is clout, I will, every now and then, be behind it. And right now CZN Burak and Nusr-et is clout and hype. On our recent trip to Dubai, I wanted to try either CZN Burak or Nusr-et, but decided to leave Nusr-et for Istanbul (where we were going a few days later) and just didn’t get the time to fit in a meal at CZN Burak. However, I noticed that CZN Burak has opened up a burger joint in the Dubai Mall… this got me excited. Primarily, the SEO and clout chasing part of me. And of course I was intrigued to see what the hype was all about.
CZN Burak Special
The menu is a simple straight forward burger joint menu. We opted for the CZN Burak special. You order at the till and then take a seat. The dining area is spacious with comfy seats at the back and more of a sit on a stool kind of thing near the front (for those that want a quick bite and then get back to spending their money in the mall). Our burger arrived in no time. The presentation was on point and we liked that his famous branding (i.e. his face) was stamped on top of the burger bun. Mind you, his smile looked more like a moustache, but hey we move.
Our experience
Okay, enough of the waffling, let’s get to the crux of the matter. Was this purely hype or was it decent? As mentioned before, I came here for the hype and for the hope that it can attract more people to my Instagram, TikTok and blog. That’s the honest truth. However, I went away a happy boy. We both did! And the happiness was due to the taste. We both loved the burger to bits and were very surprised at how delicious it actually was. I do love a pleasant surprise me. the quality of the meat was evident, the bun was sturdy, the taste was simple in the sense that the meat was the star of the show and that’s a true sign of a good burger. Another surprising conclusion we reached was that this was the best beef burger we had on this trip to Dubai. We will most definitely be popping in next time we’re in the Dubai Mall, for sure!
