Forever Rose: the most instagrammable cafe in Dubai

If you’ve seen or even heard of Dubai bling, you would be aware of the Forever Rose cafe in Dubai. Ebraheem Al-Samadi is the founder and brains behind the concept. Originally a brand that did flowers they moved onto creating this fairytale storybook cafe. Walking in and looking around will make you feel like you’re in a drawing or something. A very unique concept and one made for Instagram. When you hear instagrammable you usually think flower walls, pink decor, flashy lights, but that is so overdone right now, I think it’s boring and actually a sign of a lack of creativity and usually poor food. So, I like that this place took a different approach. Instagrammable but not the way you’d think. I mean, just take a look at the pictures. Black and white, 3D made to look like 2D. A very unique concept that has to be experienced.

How was the food?

So, they’ve got a massive menu with breakfast, lunch and dinner options. They’ve got savoury, sweet and drinks. We went for brunch, so we ordered a couple of savoury brunch options as well as a couple of drinks. Yeah, this time we didn’t get anything sweet (strange if you know my love for sweet things). We got an avocado on toast, breakfast croissant, a passionfruit mojito and an iced lavender latte. How was everything? As you’d expect really. Brunch was really brunching here. The food was delicious and the drinks hit all the right spots. Unfortunately, there was a damper on our experience just before the food came out, which really ruined our experience for us. Let’s talk about that now.

Rules rules rules

So, Forever Rose is located in an area called Box Park in Dubai. And Box Park have their own rules that need to be followed, which we were not aware of. One of those rules is that no cameras are allowed in the area, which even though I find strange in such a city like Dubai, I am happy to accept as long as other rules are followed with equal rigour. As soon as our camera was noticed (which was more or less as soon as I got it out the bag), we were approached by a waiter and told to put it away because it’s against the rules. At the end I approached the same waiter and asked if there was also an inappropriate clothing rule for the area (I literally asked if I can walk in here with hot pants on), to which he said that there is a rule that prohibits inappropriate clothing. So, I asked why is that not adhered to and implemented like you implemented the no camera rule. He claimed it is implemented and that they are not allowed in or told to leave. I told him that I could see people within my vision (so the tables next to us) where people were not dressed appropriately (according to his own definition). All he could do at this point was just smile and nod, understandably. As we left, we again noticed people coming in inappropriately dressed, were they rejected at the door? Of course not. So, like I said, I am more than happy to comply with rules and be told off when I break them, but why are some rules applied and followed rigorously, but others are not?
