The best doughnut in Edinburgh and it’s plant-based!
Considerit is a cute little spot in Edinburgh that do doughnuts, ice cream and chocolate that are plant-based, vegan and dairy free. The doughnuts being the stand out thing you come for here though of course. One would assume there’s something lacking with it being plant-based, but no oh no no no! There is nothing lacking whatsoever and as a matter of fact I didn’t even realise it was plant-based and dairy free until I started the research for this write up.
The selection of doughnuts to choose from is amazing and the unique and wonderful flavours on show will leave you speechless. Think blueberry and white chocolate flapjack, and raspberry and almond cheesecake (whaaaat!!). The fascination does not stop there though; you then get the choice of filling your chosen doughnut with ice cream!! And again there’s a variety of ice cream flavours to choose from. This felt like absolute doughnut Utopia.
- Smore Doughnut
- Plain doughnut (had cinnamon sugar on it) filled with passionfruit ice cream.
My favourite and so much so that it has crept up to being one of my best and one that I have been craving since is the Smore Doughnut. It was a little sweet (sweet enough to need a sweet tooth) and the white marshmallowy part at the top was soft and cloud like fluffy (not that I know what clouds feel like). The sweetness was counteracted by the chocolate, which wasn’t too overpowering that would make a not so big chocolate fan like me not like it. It just worked. All the elements just complimented each other with ease and perfection. In contrast, and what a contrast, the wife didn’t like this one at all.
She absolutely loved the passion fruit ice cream doughnut sandwich. I found the ice cream a little too tart for my liking (even though I did pick the flavour). She loved it though and happily went solo on it and left me to devour my chosen fluffy ball of goodness.
Arthur’s Seat. In fact, we came here right after our hike up Arthur’s Seat. Don’t judge.
Great customer service too. I means it’s small things but they all help towards the impression that is made. We were given a warm greeting, asked about our day and our plans. We were told the best view of Edinburgh is from Carlton Hill and not Arthur’s Seat as most believe (and we agree!).
