Nakey: A Bougie Breakfast in Chinatown Singapore

As the first light of day painted the Chinatown skyline, we embarked on a breakfast escapade at Nakey, a chic establishment blending modern aesthetics with a tempting array of vegetarian options (though not halal). Their offerings are an example of where Singapore is heading with their culinary vision. Modern, chic and bougie.

What’s to drink?

We got a fresh coconut and a very pretty and aromatic Bandung rose latte. Ever since landing in Singapore (the day before), we have finally found delicious coconuts (failed to find any in Penang and Jakarta prior to this). The Thai coconuts in Singapore are exactly what you could hope for in a fresh coconut. Sweet and refreshing coconut water and lush and creamy flesh for after. So, essentially a drink and a dessert in one! The Bandung rose latte is a speciality drink that is a very local speciality, so we had to get it.

Avo Kale Toast: Elevating the Ordinary

The avo kale toast proved to be a revelation in breakfast innovation. A canvas of creamy avocado adorned with gooey cheese and crowned with crispy kale showcased a meticulous balance of textures and flavours. It was a departure from the conventional avocado toast, demonstrating that simplicity could be elevated to culinary sophistication. The crispiness of the kale added a whole another dimension that took this to avo toast to a new level.

Donut French Toast: An Indulgent Symphony

For those with a penchant for sweetness, the irresistible allure of the donut French toast was impossible to resist. The very mention of its name conjured visions of indulgence, and the dish exceeded all expectations. Imagine fluffy donut-style bread, luxuriously soaked in a syrupy embrace. The result was a symphony of sweetness that serenaded our taste buds, leaving an unforgettable impression of morning decadence. And yes, it tasted as good as it looked!

Nakey, with its modern ambiance and a menu that pushes the boundaries of breakfast norms, proved to be more than just a meal—it was a gastronomic experience. The careful curation of dishes showcased a commitment to culinary artistry, making this Chinatown gem a must-visit for those seeking a bougie breakfast affair in the heart of Singapore.
