The Palm Monorail is a new experience available in Dubai that allows you to see the Palm Jumeriah like never before. We’ve covered the aerial viewing experience previously on this blog, but this is totally different. You will ride through the Palm Jumeriah itself and see the intricate details. Well, that’s the idea anyway. In this post we’ll cover the things you need to know about the experience like how to get there and how much it’ll cost. We’ll also discuss whether it is an experience that is worth your time and how it compares to other Palm Jumeirah viewing experiences. And finally, we’ll mention our itinerary – what we actually did on the morning we did this activity and it may be something you’d want to do too.
The essentials you need to know
How to get there
You need to get to the Palm Gateway station to start this experience. You can obviously drive it there directly, or if you’re using the Metro, you need to head to one of the stations that connects to the Tram line. The two stations that connect to the Tram line are DAMAC properties and DMCC, but do bear in mind that station names confusingly change every now and then. Then on the Tram you need to get to the Palm Jumeirah station and you then you can walk it to the Palm Gateway station. It is about a 5 minute walk, but there are clear signs guiding the way.
How much it costs
Once you’re at the station, you’ll have to buy tickets or present your pre-purchased tickets. When we went there was a bit of a queue, but thankfully we were directed towards just purchasing it online and so we didn’t have to wait in line. From the Palm Gateway station to the Atlantis Aquaventure station (which is the last stop) is 20 AED single trip and 30 AED return. Every stop before that (there are 3) it is 10 AED single and 15 AED return.

How was the experience?
Underwhelming. Don’t get me wrong it is fascinating going through the Palm in this manner and seeing the place especially if you know the back story. But I think viewing it from above is probably a better experience. I don’t think I’d do it again.

Our itinerary
We spent a whole morning here and made a day out of it as opposed to coming all this way to just do this monorail experience. So, we actually got off at The Pointe station, which is the penultimate station. Then, we went for brunch at Brunch & Cake, which is a nice boujie brunch spot from Barcelona (read full review here). And then we finished off our morning/early afternoon with a water experience. There’s a few to choose from, but we went for the unique electric catamaran by Costa Azzurra (read full review here).
