This is THE fudge establishment of Edinburgh. Not only will you find the best fudge here, but the most unique and wonderful flavours too. If you like fudge, you cannot not visit this place.
Two brothers started selling their homemade fudge in 1949 in their shop on the royal mile. They use the secret recipe of one of their wife’s. In the 70s one of the daughters of the family married a top ice cream maker from London. This partnership then took this family run fudge shop to a whole another level. 72 years on, the shop still stands strong and still makes and sells the best fudge in town! Outstanding!
We purchased the following flavours (got a bit carried away as you can see – got way more than we could handle!):
Highland cream
Pistachio and white chocolate
Lemon meringue pie – my favourite!!
Strawberries and cream
Butter tablet – Scottish delicacy
Vanilla
Butterscotch – wife’s favourite!!
Caramel glory
Pecan and chocolate swirl
These were very decedent and very rich in flavour. You can taste the quality and the butter! One may be a bit too rich to consume in one sitting, but it’s definitely one to enjoy over a long term period and it’s perfect with tea. A month on and they all seem to still be in good condition. You have to get the butter tablet as it’s a Scottish delicacy, but the absolute best one is the lemon meringue pie – two desserts in one! Sooo good! I’m not the biggest fudge fan but due to their array of flavours, you don’t really need to be. They literally do have something for everyone.
