Boo burger is a halal American burger joint born in Leicester and now looking to go global! It started when burger enthusiasts went round sampling burgers and menus from around the world (sounds like us lol) and they then came to the conclusion that they want to do fast food, but better! The idea is to take American burger joint classics and give them a touch up of their own. They pride themselves in using the best of the best ingredients including those that are British and Irish-sourced. Read more about them here.
What did we get
We got the big boo burger and the chick-a-boo. We also got a side of ziggy fries and Karma cola drink (coz it looked cool). Check out their full menu here.
The burgers were delicious. I loved their soft brioche buns (which are freshly baked daily) – they held onto the patties till the end. They were a bit messy as you can see from the pictures, but I think that’s what they’re going for with these. The big boo had an interesting addition of crispy onion strings – I was skeptical about this but the flavour was subtle and actually complimented the burger well. The chicken burger was heavy on the sauce (as you can see) – the house spicy mayo had a buffalo sauce type of flavour, which was different to normal chicken burgers we’ve had – it grew on us eventually.
The decor
A very clean and modern looking shop as you can see. They were also very responsive on social media – something super important in this era, but neglected by many.
The Breakfast Menu
One of the reasons this place caught my attention was their breakfast menu – I was looking forward to trying their version of the sausage McMuffin, but unfortunately I got there too late and missed breakfast. Nonetheless, a great burger place for those in the midlands. I will definitely go back when in the area again (hopefully for breakfast).
They started out in Leicester and now they have a few other branches in neighbouring cities, but it doesn’t stop there. They’re opening soon in other major cities in the country such as Manchester and abroad too – in Abu Dhabi (how exciting!).
