Yuma’s Kitchen: the best smash burger in Northampton

Is Yuma’s putting Northampton on the foodie map? Especially the burger map! Smash burgers are all the crave these days and there are plenty of options for those in major cities in London, Manchester and Birmingham. In smaller towns and cities, there are fewer options and even fewer noteworthy good delicious options. One of those is this little gem in Northampton: Yuma’s. Many claim this to be the best smash burger spot in the whole of Northampton, a local legend if you like. They’ve recently opened up a little shop in Milton Keynes too. I paid them a visit recently. Read on to find out what I thought.

The Menu

Their menu is fairly straight forward: burgers, fries, wings and shakes. That’s the way I like it. Nothing too overcomplicated and nothing unnecessary. We ordered the classic burger, which has two smashed Angus beef patties, American cheese, lettuce caramelised onions, pickles and spicy sauce. We made it into a meal, which came with seasoned fries and drink. All of which came to a very reasonable £8, considering the current market. The burger was made to order and it was ready pretty quickly too, no qualms there, but then again it was very quiet when I went.

Our thoughts

So, what was my thoughts of this Northampton legend. I’ve had a few smash burgers up and down the country and I have to say this one right here is right up there for me. The patties were top quality and you can literally taste the quality of the meat too. There was this delicious melt in your mouth buttery taste that smash burger have as well as a literal crunch on the edges. Like, there was a literal crunch! It’s amazing how they managed to pull that off. Also, there was a spicy little kick, which I enjoyed. It wasn’t overpowering enough to distract you away from the meat, but just enough to make you go ohhh. The fries had some sort of seasoning on them, which enhanced their flavour and it came with Algerian sauce (I think).

Drink watch

I’m in love with this drink. Mirinda Strawberry. Is this the best takeaway drink or what? I mean Coca Cola is elite and nothing comes close, but this for me right now is taking silver along with Rubicon Lychee. Such a good drink. What do you think?
