Asador: The famous steak and chips at the Camden Market

Amid the bustling energy of London’s Camden Market, a carnivore’s paradise awaits. Argentine Asador, a name synonymous with flame-grilled excellence, offers an unparalleled culinary journey that fuses tradition and innovation. Join us as we venture into the world of Asador at the Camden Market, where the art of grilling takes centre stage, and every bite is a masterpiece. We got the two viral sensations: steak on wedges and the ribeye steak sandwich.

The Art of Grilling

At Asador, grilling is more than just a cooking method—it’s an art form. The culinary team meticulously selects premium cuts of meat and transforms them into culinary masterpieces using age-old grilling techniques. From the sizzle of the grill to the aroma that wafts through the air, every aspect of the grilling process is designed to create an unforgettable dining experience.

Steak on wedges and steak sandwich

Asador’s menu is a tribute to the flavours of fire and smoke. They’ve got a handful of dishes on the menu, but quite easily the most popular items are what got them popular on social media: steak on wedges and the ribeye steak sandwich. Each dish reflects the restaurant’s dedication to quality, flavour, and authenticity. The steak on wedges includes 140g ribeye steak, chips, chimichurri sauce and crispy onions. The ribeye steak sandwich comes with 140g marbled cut steak, ciabatta bread, mayo, salad, roast peppers and chimichurri sauce. We got both with an addition of cheese. Also, let’s talk about the price. I mean c’mon!! £10 for the steak on wedges and £9.50 for the sandwich in London. Dare I say… a bargain?

The Perfect Accompaniments

The culinary journey at Asador extends beyond the meats themselves. From the generous addition of cheese to mouthwatering sauces, each accompaniment is carefully crafted to complement and enhance the flavours of the main dishes. For me the red sauce in particular, really elevated both dishes especially the sandwich as we’ll discuss below.

The Camden Market Vibe

Nestled within the vibrant Camden Market, Asador captures the spirit of the area’s eclectic atmosphere. The lively ambiance, combined with the aromas of grilling meat, adds to the overall experience, creating a setting that’s both relaxed and invigorating. I mean we went when this was going through its viral sensation stage, so we had to wait in line for a bit, but again more about that below.

Our experience

Asador at the Camden Market is currently going through its viral popularity stage, so as with all Camden Market spots, when they become popular on TikTok or Instagram, expect mad queues that compliment the hype. We had to wait about 45 minutes to get our food, which included queuing up for about 30 minutes to order and then another 15 to queue up again to pick up the food. The hype was well and truly real. The people in front and behind us were all here due to the hype and what they saw on social media. I’ve already touched on the price and how much of a bargain both dishes were. The portions aren’t as big as they are made to seem on social media, but it will still fill you up good.

How was the all important taste though? Sensational and truly lived up to the hype! The steak was seasoned to perfection and the cheese complimented it very well. Which did I prefer? On the wedges or in the sandwich? There were four of us and we all struggled to choose one over the other. The wedges soaked up the meat juices and other sauces so well, but just may have been a little tricky to eat because the steak was tough to cut into. The sandwich was a lot easier to consume and when combined with the red sauce they have, it just took it to a whole another level. So, if push came to shove, I’d pick the sandwich.

Asador at the Camden Market isn’t just an eatery – it’s an experience that celebrates the joy of grilling, the art of flavour, and the camaraderie that comes with sharing a meal. From the first bite to the last, both dishes at Asador reflects the passion and expertise of a culinary team dedicated to creating the ultimate carnivore’s paradise. If you’re seeking a dining experience that’s both bold and unforgettable, Asador is where your cravings for flame-grilled perfection will be satiated in style.
