1. Apolo’s Food Village: A Gastronomic Haven

Address: 48 Serangoon Road, Little India, Singapore

Apolo’s Food Village is a culinary haven that beckons with the aromatic delights of Indian cuisine. From crispy dosas to flavourful curries, each dish is a testament to the rich culinary heritage of the region. This is one of those fancy establishments where there is plenty of space, it’s nice and clean and very family friendly. Their menu is huge and this was perfectly located for us because it was right opposite our hotel. Coincidently, it is opposite the famous Tekka Centre. As a result, we visited a couple of times. So, we tried a few things.

What did we try: bun prata, butter chicken with naan, biryani, meat curry and pani puri.

2. Sri Aachi Aappakadai: Appam Extravaganza

Address: 45 Chander Rd, Little India, Singapore

Sri Aachi Aappakadai is a haven for those craving the delicate crispiness of appams. The menu features an array of these rice-based delicacies, each paired with delectable sides and gravies. They also do delicious dosas or dosais. But there’s only one reason you MUST come here for: appam with coconut milk and orange sugar for breakfast. Trust me, this will be one of the best breakfasts you have in the country.

What did we try: appam and dosa

3. A2B Veg Restaurant (Adyar Ananda Bhavan): Sweet and Savoury Delights

Address: 276-278 Serangoon Rd, Little India, Singapore

Adyar Ananda Bhavan, commonly known as A2B, is synonymous with vegetarian delights. From mouth-watering sweets to hearty savouries, this restaurant captures the essence of South Indian vegetarian cuisine. Even though they did have restaurant style main dishes, this felt like a spot where you should try their street food offerings. They had a good range to choose from too.

What did we try: Pav bhaji and filter coffee

4. Komala Vilas Restaurant: Vegetarian Tradition

Address: 76-78 Serangoon Road, Little India, Singapore

Komala Vilas Restaurant stands as a culinary institution, serving an extensive menu of vegetarian dishes. Whether you’re craving crispy vadas or wholesome thalis, this restaurant offers a journey through the diverse flavours of India. They have been around for decades and are probably most famous for their dosa, but we weren’t feeling that this time round.

What did we try: butter paneer and garlic naan

5. Azmi Restaurant (Norris Rd Chapati): Chapati Delight

Address: 168 Serangoon Rd, Little India, Singapore

Azmi Restaurant is an open-air eatery celebrated for its traditional preparation of chapatis. Revel in the aroma of freshly cooked chapatis paired with flavourful veg or meat curries, a quintessential experience in Little India. Ask locals to give you a little India recommendation, it is highly likely they’ll tell you to visit this legendary spot.

What did we try: chapati with chicken curry and daal.

Little India is a treasure trove of culinary delights, where each bite tells a story of tradition, culture, and culinary craftsmanship.
