If you’re visiting Dubai anytime soon and you love Southeast Asian food, this one is for you!! Streetery Food Hall is an absolute must visit spot. Dare I say it, somewhat of a hidden gem. You know the food courts and hawker centres you see in that part of the world (e.g. Bangkok and Singapore) – yeah that concept has arrived in Dubai. And of course it’s not a replica nor is it exactly like that experience, but it’s a great sample and a snapshot of that. There’s 3 restaurants to choose your food from and a communal area to dine in too. You can choose from authentic Chinese, Thai, Malay and Singaporean dishes. There’s definitely going to be something for everyone!

The concept
They are trying to get those Southeast food experiences and memories all under one roof. Those hole in the wall, stall with loving aunties, night market, hawker centre type of experiences. If you’re from Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore or any neighbouring country, you’ll be familiar with such memories. And if you’ve ever visited that part of the world, you’ll be aware of such experiences and hopefully have fond memories. Well, for Dubai residents and visitors they can now experience this too to a certain extent. Streetery Food Hall next to the DMCC metro station has brought together 3 restaurants and a dining area to allow us to sample that Southeast Asian experience. Authentic flavours from China, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore in an equally authentic setting.
Hing Kee, Fat Aunt’s and Zen
These are the three restaurants in the food hall. Each specialising in certain things. From barbecued meat, to homely dishes, to dim sum. They’ve also got nice homemade drinks to choose from too with interesting flavour choices.
Our experience
It was very easy to get to by Metro as it is just outside the DMCC station. It was so easy that we were wondering why we didn’t visit earlier. Nonetheless, we were happy we found it. It is within walking distance from the station. We were welcomed with a smile and an introduction to the concept. Thank you! We scrolled the three menus and made our choices. We got pot stickers, hainanese chicken rice, pad kee mao and mango sticky rice for dessert. Everything was delicious and impressive, but the standout dish was easily the pad kee mao. The noodles had that nice smokey flavour with a little spice kick too and coupled with the sugar and lime on the plate. Wow. Perfect bites were enjoyed! Highly recommend this dish here.
