You cannot come to Italy and not try the coffee right? One of the contenders for the best coffee in Rome is this retro polished Italian cafe, which has been serving coffee here since 1919! That’s one hundred and three years! Wow. A must visit in Rome.
What should you get?
The Italians love their espresso, so that’s a must here of course. But get their house speciality espresso which has melted chocolate at the bottom of the cup. Let me tell you… GENIUS!
Italian coffee culture:
– In Italy drinking coffee is a regular and a quick affair. You go in, stand at the bar, down the espresso and you’re out. It’s drunk to get them going on their day. It’s not something that is used for social purposes where you sit with your friends and talk for hours on end.
– Italian cafes like this one serve good quality coffee. So, they don’t bother with extravagant flavours and toppings. Unfortunately, you won’t find your pink hazelnut latte with candy floss on top over here.
Fun fact:
Starbucks can be readily found all over the world except for Italy. They only opened their first branch in Italy (Milan) in 2018!!
