This cool funky little spot in Edinburgh is a must visit. Not only have they based their whole menu around the humble pakora, but the staff are also super attentive and passionate about what they do. You can just tell.
Pakora – often a side dish or a street snack. But here it takes centre stage. How cool and different is that? We love this! Also, it’s not just your standard pakora, here you can pakorafy many different veg and meats. Unique! And great news is that they’ve been halal for the last four years!
The selection
They’ve got a fascinating selection to choose from. We went for the mix box of 6 chef’s choice, which included paneer, veg, chicken and haggis pakora! Cmon you know we had to try the haggis pakora! We also got a kathi roll and of course Irn Bru – when in Scotland…
Our verdict
These weren’t your standard pakoras. It was more like batter and then pieces of meat/veg inside. To be honest I prefer the type that the batter and meat/veg is one? From the selection, I liked the paneer one the best. The haggis one was ok – the livery flavour was there, but not overpoweringly strong.
This is a place definitely worth visiting for the novelty – a pakora bar and the haggis pakora (if you’re up for it). But it’s not something I’d try again. It’s obviously aimed at a particular target audience. And judging by the packed restaurant they were evidently super popular.
Haggis pakora!? Only in Scotland!
