Oseyo: Korean supermarket purchases

1. Milkis. Where has this drink been all my life? So good! Basically it’s milk plus sparkling water. It tastes like carbonated version of milk ice lolly in drink form. Sounds strange I know, but surprisingly it actually works a treat! So good! Since then, @tastetfood has told me that it is something very common in the Pakistani culture – to mix milk and 7up. Interesting. Had never heard of this strange but genius combination. It’s something that’s not supposed to go well with each other, but it just does harmoniously. Can you tell I love this drink lol?

2. Peanut and caramel crisps. This was another amazing find. The crisps have a Wotsits texture, but sweet in flavour. Very interesting, different and addictive. There’s even a few cheeky peanuts in there. I’m told this is very popular amongst the older generation in South Korea.

3. Korean ginger tea. I love all things ginger, so this is right up my alley. But in reality you can recreate this at home with ease and it’ll be healthier too. Add ginger and honey to hot water or tea and you got yourself this drink at home.

4. Taro flavoured white chocolate roll. I feared this’ll be too sweet due to the white chocolate, but like all Asian sweets, it was subtle and not too sweet at all. It tasted like the pink wafer biscuits. Delicious. This isn’t Korean in origin though, it’s from Taiwan.

5 and 6. Unfortunately, the grape candy and kimbap both were manufactured in the same factory as pork products. So, even though small, there’s a chance of contamination. So, it’s better to avoid. We only realised after purchasing. This seems common with Korean products?

Have you tried any of these Korean snacks and drinks? What’s your favourite Korean goodie?
