This is an Emirati delicacy. The name of the dish is Jasheed and one of the best places to try it is from Al Jalboot Restaurant in Dubai. In fact you won’t find many restaurants that do this delicacy. Al Jalboot is one of the few restaurants in the country that does local Emirati dishes. Located overlooking the beach and the Burj al-Arab, it provides the perfect setting for a winter evening meal.
How was it?
It actually tastes just like fish (tuna or mackerel) satni (chutney/borta) – Asians and specifically Bengalis will be familiar with this dish and taste. It wasn’t as spicy as we like it, but it was decent. The shark more or less tastes like tuna. So, next time you’re in Dubai give this restaurant a visit. Whether you try this delicacy or their other traditional offerings, I’m sure you’ll find something that looks good. I hear their version of the biryani is good. Other Emirati dishes to try are Machboos (chicken and rice) and Luqaimat (Emirati doughnuts) for dessert.
