Choppaluna - London
[AD – invite]
Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “There are two blessings which many people waste: health and free time.” (Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6049).
Looking after your health is very important and it’s that thing we all know we must do, but we just let our stomaches and eyes get the better of us. And probably Instagram doesn’t help – no offence to the burger and fried chicken gang (I love you). I know, I am a shameless offender too. Guilty! And it’s even more important now mid-pandemic that we all look after our bodies. And where better to start than our stomaches. Rant over and I actually have a solution.
The solution
Choppaluna! Established in 2019, they take pride in providing healthy, delicious and innovative food. They not only specialise in healthy food, but they also ensure taste is not compromised and the food is still picture perfect as they themselves claim “to us food is an art, that’s why we build from scratch, chop to perfection and serve to the highest ‘Insta-worthy’ standards”.
Our experience:
We were approached by Choppaluna to sample some of their food. We were super excited as unfortunately we just don’t have enough of this type of food in our diet (especially in our eating out diet).
First impressions of the place – wow so pretty and instagram friendly! Really impressed. We ordered the falafel big roll and the purple rain smoothie bowl. We were also given a complimentary drink (mango and lemon). Let’s start with the falafel big roll – it was a delicious falafel wrap with the right amount of veg and pickle all in a very interesting and tasty beetroot roll. It definitely looked the part. A very nice touch there. It maybe lacked in a falafel or two as my wife’s half she only found one. So, considering it’s a falafel wrap, we’d probably expect more of it in there. Nonetheless, it was absolutely delicious and tasted so healthy too – and it is a vegan dish too!
The purple rain smoothie bowl is something that many of you have seen I’m sure as has been getting a lot of instagram limelight recently. It consists of Berry Mix, Banana, Apple, Oats, Açaí, Coconut Milk. Topped with: Apple, Granola, Chia and Almonds. Wow. We received it in three parts (because it was out for delivery) so we had to assemble it ourselves. So, maybe not as aesthetic as it could be. Very pretty nonetheless – made for instagram. This smoothie bowl not only just looked good, but actually tasted even better. It was delicious and we finished it super quick. And finally the mango and lemon drink – they did not gift this to us because they knew it was us, they just included it in the delivery of the person who ordered the above – this was extremely nice of them. And boy did this drink hit the spot. If you’ve ever tasted sour mango, then imagine this being the drink version of that. Delicious and something that will give you a kick! As a matter of fact, this whole meal was our first of the day and it’s something that filled us up, but in a healthy way. You know when you’re full, but you still feel light and airy? Yeah, that’s the healthy full. And I only realised the day after that I never had caffeine that morning and actually the whole day!! Usually, I cannot function without caffeine. And yet, yesterday I went without even realising I hadn’t had a cuppa – sign of a healthy kick start your day kinda breakfast.
The Price Point
Another positive is the price. Everything is at a decent price point considering it is in Bloomsbury London (stone’s throw away from Oxford street and chinatown). But when you consider the current offer they got going on – wow. I don’t think you can get anything similar better for your money! We got all of the above for only £6!! I would definitely buy from them again and with the current offer they got going on, I’d do so without a single bit of hesitation. I was actually tempted to do so at the end of the day too. Healthy food at a good price is such a rarity, even more so in a city like London!
Overall, this is a great alternative based in the heart of London. The wide variety of healthy options and ingredients and dishes they have available will satisfy anyone and everyone. The smoothie bowl was our favourite, but everything was so delicious, nutritious and healthy! Go check them out!
