The raclette burger from Asllani’s Corner is the best halal thing you’ll spend your money on in Interlaken Switzerland. But we before we go onto that, let’s talk about the country a little to set the scene. We absolutely loved our time in Interlaken Switzerland. One of the notable observations was of course how expensive everything was. So, eating out frequently may not be an option if you’re on a budget. Also, in Interlaken (which is like a small village type of town with limited halal options) the food options aren’t super exciting making it worth spending. There’s a lot of Indian, Pakistani, Arab and Turkish spots in centre of town. But picking up bread and sandwich fillings from the supermarket may be the best option if you’re watching your expenditure.
Asllani’s Corner
If there is one spot that I’d recommend you spend your hard earned money on in Interlaken, it’d most definitely be this spot right here. Asllani’s Corner is like a trendy London flower wall (yes they’re all the way out here too!) instagram-friendly burger spot that wouldn’t be out of place in the hippest of areas in any city. We were super impressed with the decor (considering this isn’t a thing here), the menu, the presentation of the food and most importantly the taste. The food tasted as good… as good as it looked! But we’ll come back to that. The menu is typical of a fancy burger joint, but some twists here and there. And I am pretty sure you’ll find something you’ll like on the menu whether you’re after a beef burger, chicken burger, veg or just some things to nibble on. They also make fresh Berliner doughnuts on site, actually you can see the baker making them. Despite it being a German thing, the Berliner is actually quite popular in Switzerland and is another must try in the country.
The raclette burger
We got the Raclette Burger – I mean we had to right? Switzerland is known for their cheese and Raclette is the cheese of all Swiss cheeses. So, to see this being implemented into a burger, we were intrigued. Did it work? Boy did it! Couple that with the delicious homemade high quality fries and coleslaw and you’ve got yourself a proper meal! Going back to the cheese, we were a bit apprehensive because we had come across raclette all over the country and we could smell it from a mile away and it did not smell good. Think, stinky feet. And when the burger came out in all its beauty and glory, we got an ever so slight whiff and were concerned. However, straight after the first bite that concern and doubt disappeared quicker than the snow did here. No issues whatsoever and it actually complemented the beef patty really well. We only got one meal and they halved the burger for us, which was cute.
It’s located right next to the main train station (Interlaken OST), so you absolutely can’t miss it. And it’s fully Halal, which just adds that added icing on the cake. You’re all probably wondering when is this guy going to talk about the price. Well, this meal set us back 23 CHF (which is about £20) without a drink. Some will say that’s too expensive, but considering it’s Switzerland and that it was more of a gourmet burger kinda meal, I say it’s fair? And it tasted proper!
