We visited the market in the evening on a weekday after 7 pm and here’s what we tried. Not everything was open, but still a decent few options. Before the food, I must comment on the crowd… very “interesting” crowd here at this time and quite different to the usual. It felt like we were in Ibiza or something surrounded by a particular demographic of British tourists. Not what you usually see during the day or on weekends.

Here’s what we tried:
1. Oklahoma smash burger from Bill or Beak / Peckish Smashed Burgers
Oklahoma smash burger from @peckish_burgers . Have you ever tried an Oklahoma smash burger? Well you can try it now at the Camden Market. What’s an Oklahoma smash burger I hear you ask… it’s basically one that grills the diced onions with the patty. And they’re not shy with the onions. That caramelised onion taste seeping into the quality smash patty is a delight for any burger enthusiast. A definite must try when here in the Camden Market. A bit pricey some may say, but it’s London 2024 I would say in response.
2. Steak on crisps from Meat Point
There are a number of steak and chips places in the Camden Market. Meat Point is one of them. They are known for their steak and probably most famously their steak sandwiches. We saw a couple of people order steak sandwiches before us and it looked amazingly delicious. Maybe we’ll get that next time. We opted for the steak on crisps this time round. It’s the same steak cut into strips and placed on top of a bed of freshly fried crisps. And then there’s a lot of goodies that go on top to make it like a loaded kinda dish including jalapeño, fried onions, mayo and mustard. It was a little underwhelming to be honest. The crisps were not fresh; they were stale. The sauces especially the mustard was unnecessary and overpowering. And even though the steak is decent, there’s probably better steak places here in the Camden Market.
3. Pizza from Camden Pizza
A staple on our Camden trips. They do two pizzas. One is Margherita and one is with salami. You get a slice and especially when it is served to you fresh out the pizza oven, you’re in for a treat. And most of the time, it is served fresh and piping.
4. Sticky toffee pudding sundae from Chin Chin
This is one of our favourite desserts in London. This is the sticky toffee pudding sundae from @chinchinicecream and we love it!! It has become a staple especially on our Camden Market trips. It is so indulgent and comforting at the same time. And I love that it is perfect for both the summer and winter. The sticky toffee pudding makes it a comforting winter dessert and then the ice cream part makes it ideal for the hotter months (if and when we get them!). Genius!

5. Cheese tea from HeyTea
HeyTea are the revolutionary founders and pioneers of cheese tea. Back in China (and Taiwan), bubble tea is just a standard drink that even McDonald’s do, but all the rave is about cheese tea. Well this was the case back when I was there in 2019. People were queuing up SEVEN hours to try this drink from this particular shop when they first came out and burst onto the scene!! Seven hours! HeyTea was born in China back in 2011 (and initially named Royal Tea), it blossomed in China, it captured the hearts of the Chinese people and then it ventured out to the rest of the world. They’ve got branches in countries like Singapore and Malaysia. And as of about a year ago, they now entered the England market. And boy are we glad. And we are not surprised at all about their rapid growth in England. They started out in Soho, near Chinatown London and before you knew it due to their success they opened up numerous branches in the capital including in Mayfair and Camden. They’ve even opened up in Manchester now as we speak. And I really wouldn’t be surprised if they open up many many more by the end of the year. The grape cheese tea was my favourite here and is probably now my favourite cheese tea ever!
