The Best Bubble Waffles in Camden Market London
Camden Market is full of summer vibes and a variety of wonderful food options. This was the best dessert there: the famous bubble waffles!
Bubble Mania: Bubble Waffles in Camden Market

[AD – invited]

This is the one I wasn’t looking forward to writing. Because there is criticism as you will see at the end, but it makes it that little bit harder when it was an invite. I don’t want to come across ungrateful. But I feel as “bloggers” we have a responsibility to convey our experiences honestly, regardless of whether it is an invite or not.

The good

Absolutely delicious. A bubble waffle is a super trendy street snack, which originated in Hong Kong in the 1950s. The typical waffle taste but with different textures. Crispy edges on the outside, fluffy, light and airy on the inside (bubble like). I love this and probably prefer it to the normal waffles. Once served, the waffles are filled with many different combinations of flavours, toppings, fruits and chocolate. These guys here at Bubble Mania do an amazing bubble waffle. So delicious and for me the best dessert I had in Camden. We had this at the end of our day after binging on a lot of food and yet we managed to finish this with ease. I usually find waffles a heavyish dessert, this due to the airy nature was perfectly light and made for a perfect end to the day of eating. We opted for the Kinder Bueno one and it came with a purple colour candy floss thing at the top. Delicious delicious delicious! I will definitely go back and this will definitely be a regular stop when in Camden market.

The not so good

Customer service. This is a service game. We weren’t necessarily treated badly or anything nor was anyone rude. It’s the small things that do add up to the experience I feel. Two of the three staff members just didn’t feel like they wanted to be there. They looked extremely tired and just fed up. When we mentioned we were invited, we were just told to pick what we want and there was NO SMILE, no hello, no “you should try this”, no “this is our story”, no “how are you”, no “this is what we do”, nothing really. Just “what do you want”. I felt this was cold. The least you can do is smile I think. I want to make excuses, I do. I want to say it was at the end of a long day, but it was only 3pm and they close at 8pm. I want to say it was busy, but it was not busy at all. We queued behind one other group. So, maybe it was just an off day that they were having? One of the staff members was smiling (hurray!) when he handed us our order.

Then, due to our bad and our bad only, we accidentally dropped the filling on the floor (losing all the kinder bueno and strawberry and purple ice cream etc). We asked if they can replace it, and this nice staff member very kindly offered to do so and it was done with a smile. Thank you! However, as you can see from the pictures we weren’t really given our original order. It was just a dollop of cream. So, even though on the day we were happy and satisfied, in hindsight this was quite disappointing. Especially as we were told if I get someone with me they can get a free one too. We only ordered one as we didn’t want to milk it – one was sufficient for us (there was five of us!). So, filling this one up again shouldn’t have been a problem if they were readily willing to offer whole free ones! I left out the genders of the staff members by the way to keep their identities fairly hidden.

A point to add here is that the person that runs the instagram page is a lovely lovely person. This was evident from our communication. This also made this experience harder to write about.

Update since posting this on Instagram last year: they reached out, apologised and invited us around again (also made a really generous offer, which we declined). This was nice as they did acknowledge us unlike some who just choose to ignore. Also, we have received feedback from other bloggers that the staff have become really friendly and “happy looking” since the post.
