The location and decor
Cluck and Smash is located in Woodford right outside a bus stop. Not many other such spots are nearby or within walking distance (from what I saw anyway), so this is definitely a positive for them and for the people in the area. A halal burger spot is always going to be good for the locals. And being right outside a bus stop is perfect. Convenient and easy for commuters and tourists from outside the area too. The service was really good as they give good recommendations and they accomodate to your tastes and all with a smile. The decor is bold: the colour yellow is prominent and I love it. They’ve definitely nailed the aesthetics, but we’re not here for that and I’m sure you’re not either. Let’s talk about the food.
What we ordered
Harlem chopped cheeseburger
Cluck and smash burger
Mac and cheese bites
3 tenders in Korean flavour
6 wings in bang bang flavour
Harlem chopped cheeseburger
The Harlem Chopped Cheeseburger really blew us away. This is a unique burger that we haven’t seen anywhere else so far. Imagine a high quality beef patty that is chopped up into mince like pieces and made into a burger. Yeah, this is that. The quality of the meat is what made it. You can really taste it. The meat gets expertly chopped up along with gherkins and onions, which complement the meat so well. The acidity and sourness cuts off the meat flavour well. This burger stood out and it’s truly something we’ve been craving since! And it’s a great alternative to a smash burger too, if you’re tired of them.
The Cluck
As the name suggests (cluck) they’ve also got chicken options. We got the innovative cluck and smash burger, which had a smash patty as well as a fried chicken piece. This is the first time we’ve had this even though we’ve seen others do it and we definitely enjoyed it. An interesting option for those wanting something different or they can’t choose between smash or cluck. And we also got wings and tenders. You get to choose from a variety of flavours to suit your taste. We got bang bang and Korean respectively. Both flavours had their kicks and good flavour and I think we preferred the bang bang one slightly over the Korean.
The Mac and cheese bites
The mac and cheese bites were crispy on the outside and cheeeeesy on the inside. These were such comforting balls of joy. And I absolutely loved them. And I’m not even a mac and cheese fan. This would’ve been my favourite had it not been for the above burger.
