Home food and catering businesses have been on the rise ever since the first lockdown in 2020. Allowing many to realise their dreams and others like myself to sample some delicious home cooked food. Home chefs are hidden gems by the very definition of its word. Smash N Slide in Wembley London is one such place that caught our eye.

The best burger in town…
There have been some rave reviews by prominent burger connoisseurs and foodies, with claims of this being the best smash burger in West London to it being the best in the UK! Big claims, which intrigued us. What pushed me to give them a try was when I saw a limited edition, one weekend only and only a few left, I was sold! I’m a sucker for exclusivity. I decided to get myself this exclusive one weekend only iftar box (Ramadan 2020).
They use the best of ingredients – 28-day dry aged, grass fed meat and fresh brioche buns from a nearby baker (I think they now use potato buns of high quality of course) – good signs. Chips, Chicken tenders, a cheesecake slice and a drink also came with this box. It’s all being made in a home kitchen by a very nice humble brother.
What did we think?
I don’t say this often, but this burger right here is one of the best burgers I’ve had. It’s right up there if not at the very top. I make a mean burger myself and to date I’ve not found many that come close (wife vouches), but this right here… does. The quality of the ingredients shine through and you can taste the love and care that went into making this. Just look at that burger to see how juicy it is!! There’s nothing unnecessarily fancy about it – and that’s how I like my meat burgers. The chips had a McDonald’s fries aroma to them, which we could smell the whole ride back home.. bro how did you get that??? And the smash sauce dip… I need the recipe for this!
The cheesecake slices – Oreo and Biscoff were both good – I’m a sucker for anything sweet. But as I was speaking to him beforehand, I’m kinda tired of these flavours and really want to see something different – Aero Mint, Creme Egg, Crunchie, Milky Way, anything other than Oreo and Biscoff!! But this wasn’t in his hands at that time. And regardless, he’s all about the burgers. Even though I wasn’t super excited to try these, I actually really enjoyed them and it was the perfect way to end this meal.
If you’re ever in the area or even if you’re not, be sure to give @smash_n_slide a shout. You’ll be served up a mouthwatering and satisfying smash burger. That’s for sure.
They’re usually open on weekends only and it is curbside pickup and deliveries only.
