Mrs Chew’s Chinese Kitchen is a fully halal restaurant that opened its doors in Birmingham and now also have a branch in Westfield London. We tried the one in Westfield during a recent shopping trip. It is perfectly located in the food court and I feel it is quite possibly one of the best options for you there.
They do Chinese classics as well as what I call “Western Chinese” classics, but what they are most famous for are their roast meats and dim sum. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a sucker for roast/grill meat on rice, but unfortunately, this time round we were planning to eat somewhere else on the day, so opted for the dim sum only.
Dim Sum
They’ve got a small but decent dim sum menu. We opted for a few things including the Siew Mai (open faced dumplings) and Sichuan Chilli Oil Wontons (because we love spice). The Siew Mai was okay, probably wouldn’t get again, but the Wontons were delicious. Not as spicy as they can be and couldn’t really taste the Sichuan either (a very prominant flavour that cannot be missed if in a dish), but a solid dish nonetheless.
This served a purposed for a quick bite before we went to another restaurant in Shepherd’s Bush. I’d love to return and try their roast meats and in particular the roast duck.
