If you’re looking for a summer activity in the UK, then look no further than a lavender farm. Typically, a lavender farm will provide for you a nice relaxed day out perfectly suitable for a family or a couple day out. You’ll be able to pick and take home lavender, take wonderful pictures of the beautiful scenic settings and or just have a nice picnic while enjoying the setting. There are a number of lavender farms scattered around the country.

Hitchin Lavender
Hitchin Lavender is a lavender farm in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. Essentially they’re open during the summer months. Lavender specifically flowers from the end of June to mid August. They have sunflowers too that will be available from end of July until mid August. The field is open from 9 am until 8 pm every day except for Wednesday, when they are open until 10 pm (to allow for sunset viewing). The field where you pick lavender is the only part which is not free (prices below). Whether you pay and enter the field or just explore the outside, you can enjoy scenic walks, fantastic photography opportunities and lovely picnic settings. A great half day out this is for sure!
How much does it cost?
The actual field where you pick the lavender has an entry fee. It is £8 for adults and £5.50 for childen. A picking bag is £4. It may seem a little dear for what it is, but if you make the most out of your stay (pick out plenty of lavender, have a picnic, take some awesome shots etc), it’s a fair price for an odd day out.
Overall, a great activity to do with the family during the summer. If you’ve never done it, go go go!!!
