Dickey’s barbecue pit is a legend hailing from Texas, a part of the world known for its barbecued meats, so for them to enter the Dubai food scene is a big deal. They opened their first restaurant in 1941, but they still follow the same procedure; that is to slow cook the meat in house. Read more about them here. In this post, we’ll take a look at the Dubai branch on the JBR beach, a prime tourist location. Is it worth visiting? Let’s see.
JBR beach
The location is prime. Right on the JBR beach walk where there are so many other big names, you’ll find Dickey’s sit there proudly. I don’t know the official numbers, but I’m sure many many tourists frequent this part of Dubai. As a result, they have many many dining options too. Think of the big international names and most of them can be found here. We didn’t see this spot being covered much on social media and actually when we visited, no one else was in there either. So, initially we thought maybe a hidden gem, but then thought maybe not. Nonetheless, we wanted to check them out for ourselves.
Our experience
We got the Texas quantum plate, which had beef brisket and spicy beef sausage. It came with a roll and two sides to choose from. We chose coleslaw and mac and cheese. How was it? In reality I really wasn’t feeling well this particular day, so I couldn’t really truly appreciate the quality. Nonetheless, I still did enjoy it even though I would’ve like more meat on my plate for how much we paid. I didn’t touch the mac and cheese as I just can’t when not feeling the best, but my wife did enjoy it.
